Ned Schwing mentioned in his reference reserve about the Model 1890 & 1906 that Winchester started evidence marking them in 1908… I don't know if that is definitely exact, but will suppose that it's. The “WP” proof mark was utilized following the barrel and receiver had been mated, assembled and finished.
